A new charity support service called The Global Fundraising Initiative, has been launched allowing Australians to donate to a charity while signing up for products and services such as electricity, gas, water, phone, internet connection, credit cards and insurance.

Developers of The Global Fundraising Initiative say the service brings together donors and charities through an automated online platform that enables donors to secure products and services in order to make a donation at no cost to the charity or the donor.

“The Global Fundraising Initiative has been created to provide charity and Not for Profit organisations with a new and unique way to engage with their supporter base and generate funding in an organisation branded and cost free environment,”  Chief Executive Officer of the Global Fundraising Initiative, Alex Jordan, said.

“The response from Charities and Not for Profits has been great. We have more than 30 Not for Profit partners already signed up to use the Initiative’s platform and services and the support a number of major Australian companies in making available millions of dollars to be utilised by the Initiative has been overwhelming.

“As many as 20 major companies have signed on with the potential to offers up to 100 different products to consumers.

“Customers can choose to take up a service or product via a charity portal, and a donation can be made to the charity – which costs the donor and the charity nothing.

“People can either go to the supplier to sign up directly or they can access these existing market competitive plans and products offered via the charity branded portal to facilitate a donation to be made.”

Jordan said a customer who wanted to change their energy supplier can do so through their favourite charity website, which receives a donation without any administrative or ‘handling’ fees taken out.

“Each person who participates can elect to register with the charity his or her name and contact details so that the Donation can be paid in their name or to have the Donation paid anonymously,” he said.

“The Initiative platform even enables donors to have specific offers mailed to them in order to participate at a later time.

“All communication to donors and supporters is managed by the relevant Charity within their existing communication strategies with no personal information being supplied to the Global Fundraising Initiative  to ensure that no ‘begging’ emails or letters are sent by the Initiative or participating companies and to protect the Charity’s data integrity and the donor’s privacy.

“In addition to protecting the privacy of the donors, this approach also guarantees that participation by Charity and Not for Profit organisations is kept 100 per cent free.”

He said The Global Fund Raising Initiative was developed over the past five years creating the proprietary software for the central server that listed products and services of participating companies by category and manages rank and listings for each charity website – by charity supporter preference.
