In its partnership with the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE), ING DIRECT has created an opportunity for staff to meaningfully contribute to the community using their skills and experience to help social entrepreneurs get ahead.

The two organisations have joined forces to help improve the financial wellbeing of social entrepreneurs and their social businesses to enable them to create a greater social or environmental impact. It is an identified area of need and one that ING DIRECT is well placed to support.

ING DIRECT Manager of Business Savings and Superannuation, Tim Hewson, says he is motivated to participate in the program by the “opportunity to be exposed to the creativity and passion of social entrepreneurs and the chance to use my skills and expertise to make a difference”.

In addition to being involved in the development of the masterclass content, Hewson will participate in the first Financial Management Masterclass on May 15 alongside ING DIRECT Treasurer Michael Witts; Key Account Manager Wealth, Charles Smith and other key ING DIRECT managers as Subject Matter Experts on May 15.

“Through these Masterclasses and webinars, social entrepreneurs are given a unique opportunity to learn important tools for managing their personal financial well-being from ING DIRECT’s financial experts,” Hewson said.

“Importantly though, for the long-term sustainability of the partnership, volunteering their skills and expertise also creates value for the individual volunteers and for ING DIRECT as a business.

“Creating meaningful volunteering experiences for employees is a valuable tool for engaging employees and increasing their satisfaction and retention,” he said.

ING DIRECT is one of a growing number of companies looking to more strategically align volunteering with key businesses objectives to create shared value.

If you are a social entrepreneur you can register for the Masterclasses here.
