Gandel Grants Open
25 February 2014 at 10:48 am

One of Australia's largest independent philanthropic family funds, Gandel Philanthropy has announced its communityassist grants are open for application to eligible Not for Profit organisations.

These grants are for amounts up to $40,000 and they are provided as a one-off contribution, aimed at supporting a number of areas.

EDUCATION – this could include early childhood education, adult education, specialised educational programs, leadership programs, minor research, school and university initiatives.

POVERTY and DISADVANTAGE – this could include direct support programs and welfare activities that help alleviate and address poverty and disadvantage in the community, crisis or emergency support, material aid, and small-scale research programs.

SOCIAL COHESION and INCLUSION – this could include initiatives that help build community spirit and promote tolerance, and that support marginalised or vulnerable groups to remain active in their community).

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – this could include support for capacity building and organisational development activities, with the aim of strengthening community organisations to deliver better services and programs.

Gandal Philanthropy CEO Vedran Drakulic encouraged prospective applicants to read the Grant Guidelines carefully to ensure they are eligible, and to consider whether their program or activity is aligned to his organisation’s granting philosophy.

The Gandel Charitable Trust was formed in 1978 by John Gandel AO and Pauline Gandel, who are actively engaged in the philanthropic works. Through Gandel Philanthropy, they have contributed tens of millions of dollars towards supporting various charitable causes in the community.

Applications for communityassist grants are accepted throughout the year and there are no specific closing dates. Visit www.gandelphilanthropy.org.au
