The Commonwealth Bank has announced it will award $2 million as part of its annual
Community Grants program, which were established to support the health and wellbeing of Australian children.
The Community Grants program, an initiative of the Commonwealth Bank Staff Community Fund, has awarded over 700 grants, totalling more than $5.6 million to community groups across Australia since 2007.
Applications for 2013 Community Grants are now open and groups can apply for a grant of up to $10,000.
Commonwealth Bank General Manager of Community and Sustainability Trent Moy says the Commonwealth Bank has a proud tradition of supporting Australian community organisations and recognises the important role they play at a local and national level.
“Last year we provided grants to 244 youth organisations to fund a range of youth programs focused on sport, the arts, education, health and social services. This year, through the 2013 Community Grants program, we aim to continue to make a positive difference to the lives of young Australians,” he said.
“The Commonwealth Bank Staff Community Fund is Australia’s longest running employee contribution program and the bank matches staff contributions dollar for dollar.”
To be eligible for a 2013 Community Grant, organisations must have a program that supports the health and wellbeing of Australian children, and be endorsed by the Australian Tax Office with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status or the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
Applications close at 5pm AEST on Friday, June 14, 2013.
