CSI Announces New Board Chair
7 March 2013 at 3:12 pm

Centre for Social Impact has appointed Emeritus Professor Richard Henry to the CSI Board and to the position of Chairperson.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of New South Wales, Professor Fred Hilmer, has chaired the CSI Board since the centre’s inception five years ago..

At CSI’s recent Board meeting, Professor Hilmer stepped aside as Chair and appointed Emeritus Professor Richard Henry to the Board and to the position of Chair. Professor Hilmer will remain as a Director during the transition period of ‘Constitutional Change’.

“Our new Chair, Professor Henry, retired from his role as Vice President and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) in November 2012 after a distinguished career in medicine and academic leadership,” CSI CEO Andrew Young said.

He joined UNSW in 1997 as the Foundation John Beveridge Professor of Paediatrics and served in a variety of roles before becoming deputy vice-chancellor (academic) in 2006.

Professor Henry was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2007 for service to paediatric respiratory medicine as a clinician, researcher, educator and mentor.

“In coming months the CSI Board will oversee the development of a Constitution for CSI, which will likely include the establishment of a new group of founders/partners,” Andrew Young said.

“The representation of each of our partner Universities – currently maintained by the Vice Chancellor from each partner acting as a CSI Director – will move into this group. In this context, the Vice-Chancellors will probably transition from the CSI Board this year.”
