24 January 2013 at 8:56 am

Organisers of the 15th National Conference on Volunteering to be held in South Australia in September are calling for abstract submissions.

The National Conference will be hosted by Volunteering SA & NT on behalf of Volunteer Australia and will be held at The Hilton Hotel in Adelaide on September 4-6, 2013.

The Conference theme and content will relate to:

LEAD achieving success through inspirational leadership
PARTNER collaborating for outstanding results
BUILD creating an innovative sector
SUSTAIN strengthening foundations for a vibrant future

Organisers say abstracts that will be considered for presentations may take the form of papers, workshops or debates exploring new and innovative programs and projects that provide vision and leading edge developments for the volunteering sector.

Participants are encouraged to use highly interactive formats designed to encourage discussion and audience participation.

“We are seeking people who can inspire, inform and enthuse delegates with their powerful experiences, creative thinking and ideas on leading, partnering, building and/or sustaining the volunteer sector, organisations and/or people in a time of change that surrounds and at times engulfs the sector,” Volunteering Australia says.

The Call for Abstracts closes January 31, 2013.

  • VA says it is specifically seeking presenters who can:
  • Challenge thinking and assumptions from a top-down perspective
  • Provide inspiration to planners, thinkers, practitioners and observers
  • Ask the difficult questions about what the sector needs to stay viable in the 21st century
  • Create an achievable vision
  • Share their learning from their own experiences
  • Deliver a take home message or action for delegates

Previous experience in delivering conference papers will be highly regarded

Two presentation times are available: 40 minutes – for 30 minute presentations and 10 minutes for questions and comments OR 80 minutes – available for presentations in alternative styles such as workshops, debates, etc.

There are up to 36 sessions offering a variety of times required for Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th September. The language of the conference is English. Abstracts of 300 – 500 words maximum (excluding references) must be submitted via the downloadable pdf Conference Abstract Form.
