QR National Offers Cash Grants for Community Projects

Queensland-based rail freight giant QR National has launched its latest round of cash grants aimed at grassroots projects in regional and rural Australia.
QR National has already presented grants to more than 50 charities around the country in the first two rounds of its Community Giving Fund.
The program encourages eligible charitable organisations to seek grant funding up to $20,000 for specific community-based projects.
QR National Managing Director & CEO Lance Hockridge says the Giving Fund gives back to the communities where the company’s employees live and work.
“The majority of our workforce is based in regional and rural Australia and we want to target those areas where great community projects are being planned by locals for locals,” he said.
“The Fund was established with input from employees on what was important to them in their local communities and that turned out to be three areas – Health and Wellbeing, Community Safety and Education.”
QR National works in conjunction with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) Australia to provide two grant rounds per year.
Hockridge says the Fund celebrates and supports community ties.
“It’s about locals giving locally to provide a helping hand in the community,” he said.
Applications will close 5pm (AEDST) Friday 26 October 2012.
The QR National Community Giving Fund is a foundation account within the CAF Community Fund.
