Armytage Resigns from Vic Dept of Justice

The Secretary of the Department of Justice in Victoria Penny Armytage has resigned from the Victorian Public Service after more than nine years in the role to take up a senior role in the private sector.
Armytage’s early career in the communities sector was focused on improving the lives of women and vulnerable children. Armytage continued this work in the Victorian Public Service, taking on several
senior roles in key areas of service delivery.
Her last major role in the Department of Human Services involved overseeing the delivery of child protection and other crucial community services.
The Premier Ted Baillieu said Armytage has given dedicated service to the Department of Justice, serving as Commissioner in the Office of Corrections before being appointed Secretary in 2003.
He said Armytage has provided crucial advice to governments on many important and significant issues in the Justice portfolio.
“Her very significant work in response to major natural disasters, including the Black Saturday bushfires and a series of major floods, showed great professionalism and leadership,” the Premier said.
“On behalf of the Victorian Government I would like to thank Ms Armytage for her service to the community and formally acknowledge her contribution to the Victorian Public Service and the State over more than 30 years.”
Armytage will finish with the Department of Justice in the coming weeks and the Government says there will be an appropriate process to identify a successor. It is believed she is taking up a position at international account firm KPMG.
