Dig Out Your Old Mobile Phones to Support Vinnies

In the great tradition of ‘one person’s trash is another person’s treasure’, Vinnies Centres across Victoria are collecting old mobile telephones for recycling to raise funds for local welfare work.
For every telephone donated at Vinnies Centres across Victoria, the St Vincent de Paul Society receives $3 from Australian Mobile Recycling, who refurbish them for reuse.
General Manager of Vinnies Centres in Victoria, Garry McBride, said “It’s such a simple way of supporting Vinnies in your local community. I think just about everyone has at least one old phone tucked away in a drawer somewhere that they could donate, probably more.”
Mobile telephones can be left in dedicated donation boxes in all Vinnies Centres in Victoria. People can locate their nearest Centre by entering their postcode at www.vinnies.org.au.
Donations are being accepted until the end of February.
Funds raised in Vinnies Centres across Victoria are used to support the local welfare work of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
