The Castan Centre for Human Rights Law today announced its 2012 Global Interns, who will be working with nine leading human rights organisations on four continents.

The Castan Centre for Human Rights Law today announced its 2012 Global Interns, who will be working with nine leading human rights organisations on four continents.

According to Melbourne’s Castan Centre for Human Rights Law, “The aim of the Global Internship Program is to cultivate the next generation of human rights leaders, and we believe that our 2012 interns will use their passion for human rights and social justice to affect change in whatever fields they choose to work.”

The successful candidates a broad range of volunteering experience, says the Castan Centre. 

The 2012 Global Interns are:

  • Nabila Buhary who will intern at Human Rights First, New York City.
  • Alison Cole who will intern at the Center for Constitutional Rights, New York City.
  • Tessa Daws who will intern with the United National Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health, Mumbai.
  • Giselle Diego and Jeremy Shelley, who intern at International Criminal Law Services, The Hague.
  • Elisabeth Howard who will intern at Plan International, Haiti.
  • Sandra Murray and Divya Roy, who will intern at Oxfam & Lawyers for Human Rights, Durban.
  • Kylie Pearce who will intern at the Human Rights Advocacy Centre, Accra.
  • Manav Satija who will intern with the International Commission of Jurists, Geneva.
  • Amanda Thompson who will intern at International Women’s Rights Action Watch – Asia Pacific, Kuala Lumpur and Geneva.
