Victorian Women’s Trust Grants Program Opens for 2012

The Victorian Women's Benevolent Trust's annual grant program is open for applications with this year’s General Grants having a major focus on projects which foster partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous women and girls.

The Victorian Women’s Trust says in the broader context, the grants program will address economic, cultural or social disadvantage experienced by Victorian women and girls.

The Trust has 5 Sub-Fund grants, each with a specific purpose, open for applications.

In 2012 the Victorian Women’s Trust will celebrate a unique 20 year partnership with Koorie Women Mean Business and their work to enhance the status, capacity, independence and well-being of Koorie women.

Accordingly the 2012 General Grants Program has a major focus on projects that foster partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous women and girls, working on issues within their communities to ‘close the gap’.

The Victorian Women’s Trust was established in 1985 in recognition of the role of women in shaping Victoria.

VWT says General Grants commonly range from $2,000 – $10,000, with occasional consideration of larger amounts. Approximately 15 projects are funded each year.

Grants & Executive Support Officer, Anne Paul says the Trust is inspired by the vision of a just and humane society where women and girls are equal with men and boys and take up all of life’s opportunities without fear, harm, discrimination or disadvantage.

The VWT’s charitable arm is the Victorian Women’s Benevolent Trust (VWBT).

Applications close 5pm Monday 30th January 2012, with decisions made late July.
