Breast Cancer Leader Farewelled

Today more than five-hundred people gathered at the National Gallery of Victoria for a lunch to farewell outgoing CEO and founder of the Breast Cancer Network Australia, Lyn Swinburne.
Ms Swinburne spoke at the gathering – and said her greatest achievement while in the role was making the drug Herceptin available on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, convincing the AFL to put on The Field of Women and distributing a resources kit to around 80 per cent of women diagnosed in Australia with breast cancer.
Maxine Morand was announced last month as the network’s new CEO.
Swinburne said she was delighted with Maxine’s appointment. “I am confident I leave the organisation with a solid foundation and a dynamic and passionate new leader.”
Morand will take up the reigns in November.
