Tag Your Cause - Literally!
8 February 2011 at 9:43 am

Limited edition luggage tags, sold in support of worthy causes, are the unusual focus of an Australian Social Enterprise website called TagYourCause.com.

The enterprise has been set up to help Not for Profit and community organisations get the word out and create awareness about the causes they represent.

Founded by Sydney Social Entrepreneur Matthew Beeche, TagYourCause.com works with Not for Profit organisations to design a luggage tag to promote their cause.

Each month, Beeche says Tag Your Cause works with a different Not for Profit orgnaisation to create a specially designed luggage tag. The tags go on sale online the following month, with the Not for Profit organisation receiving 50% of all profits.

While the monthly tag design is targeted toward larger national organisations, he says Tag Your Cause is able to design a tag for no cost for smaller organisations, which can be purchased by the organisation in a minimum order of 500 and used for their own fundraising activities.

Beeche says he’s have found smaller community-based charities have been able to fundraise successfully by teaming up with their local travel agent.

He says travel agent customers usually need a tag for their suitcase anyway and in turn they also get to give back to the community, so it's a win-win situation for all involved.

Beeche, who is a Sydney sales manager by day, says he wanted to use his online entrepreneurial skills to create something that would really make a difference.

He says his aim was to create something innovative that people could really connect with and enjoy supporting, that would have global appeal and serve as subtle advertising in the worlds busiest places – airports, train stations etc.

He says it's a simple yet effective way to get noticed and promote a cause someone is passionate about.

TagYourCause.com is currently selling tags that are aligned to the "Premiers Flood Relief Appeal" with 50% of the profits being donated to help flood victims.
