Victorian Not for Profit organisations can apply for community rants of up to $5,000 through the State Trustees Community Grants program.
State Trustees are calling on eligible Victorian community and Not for Profit organisations to apply for a limited number of discretionary grants to help establish or develop projects in the following funding categories:
- Creating social networks for older people and people with disabilities or mental illness, particularly those who are housebound, isolated, or living in residential care or supported accommodation
- Providing accessible legal information and financial advice to older or disabled Victorians, people with a mental illness or people coping with bereavement
- Helping older people or those with a disability or mental illness achieve an improved lifestyle through activity or learning programs
- Bridging programs for older or disabled Victorians, or people with a mental illness to integrate and contribute to the wider community
State Trustees’ Managing Director, Tony Fitzgerald says State Trustees distributes $40,000 each year through its community grants program.
Fitzgerald says State Trustees looks after the financial and legal affairs of some of Victoria’s most vulnerable people.
He says they feel it’s important to support people in all areas of their lives through supporting fellow organisations in the community who have the capacity to help.
Fitzgerald says nine Victorian organisations benefited from the grants last year, including Melbourne City Mission, Dandenong Ranges Music Council and The Bays Hospital Group.
He says last year State Trustees’ community grants funded a wide range of projects, including a respite program for carers of children with a disability, a vegetable garden for the homeless, and a music workshop for people with an intellectual disability.
Interested organisations can check their eligibility via the State Trustees website.
Applications for the State Trustees Community Grants Program 2011 open on 27 January and close at 5pm, 24 February. For more details or to make an application online please visit www.statetrustees.com.au
