Victorian Community Sector Awards
23 September 2010 at 1:00 pm
Victoria’s most innovative community organisations were recognised with an inaugural Victorian Community Sector Award announced at the 2010 Think Innovation Summit in Melbourne.
Presenting the awards at Docklands, Minister for Community Development Lily D’Ambrosio said all 12 finalists highlighted the outstanding contribution community sector organisations made to the lives of all Victorians.
D’Ambrosio says Victoria has one of the strongest community sectors in the country, with over 120,000 Not for Profit organisations that touch on almost every aspect of community life – from education and the environment, across health and social services, to religion and sport.
She says the inaugural Victorian Community Sector Awards recognise that these organisations are skilled, responsive to the needs of the community, are valued by Government and are going about their activities in a truly innovative way.
The award categories included organisations using new approaches to managing administrative and compliance issues as well as new approaches to workforce challenges.
The Brumby Labor Government’s 2010 Community Sector summit was attended by representatives from more than 195 community sector organisations.
