Philanthropy Boss Resigns
21 July 2010 at 4:21 pm

Gina Anderson, the CEO of Philanthropy Australia has resigned from the top job but won't leave her post until September 30th saying she has no firm plans for her future employment.

Anderson, who took on the top job almost 5 years ago says there is still plenty to do before her September departure including the Philanthropy Australia Annual Conference : Philanthropy at the Tipping Point? to be held 31 August – 1 September, 2010 in Melbourne.

Anderson told PA members in the current Philanthropy Review that she feels she needs a change. She told Pro Bono Australia her only plans so far, after September 30th, are to head to the beach.

She says working for Philanthropy Australia has been a wonderful experience and as philanthropy has moved from the fringe to mainstream in Australia she is very proud of the progress and achievements that Philanthropy Australia has made.

Philanthropy Australia President, Bruce Bonyhady says Anderson has ably overseen the development of Philanthropy Australia into an organisation with a truly national focus and can be justifiably proud of the progress and achievements that Philanthropy Australia has made.

Bonyhady says he wants to place on record the appreciation of Council for the dedication and verve with which Anderson has served Australian philanthropy while Chief Executive.

The Council of Philanthropy Australia will be appointing an agency to handle the process for the recruitment of her successor, which could take several months.

Gina Anderson was appointed CEO of Philanthropy Australia in November 2005. She stepped out of the corporate world to take on the role of boss of the national organisation for grantmaking trusts and foundations.

Previously Anderson was General Manager Human Resources for St Hilliers, an integrated property development and construction company. Before that, she had seven years at Westpac Banking Corporation in a variety of management roles including Head of Community Involvement.

At the time of her appointment Anderson said she believed her corporate perspective would have some beneficial repercussions for the sector.
