More Funds for Golden Gurus

The Federal Government has released a second round of funding for the national volunteer mentoring program, Golden Gurus, totalling $500,000.
Golden Gurus, an Australia 2020 Summit initiative, brings together a diverse range of organisations to link the expertise of mature age mentors (50 and over) with community organisations or start-up businesses.
There are 50 Golden Gurus grants of $10,000 each available to organisations that deliver the Golden Gurus program.
Applications open on 1 July 2010 and close on 30 July 2010.
To be eligible to apply for Golden Gurus grants, an organisation will need to be approved to deliver the Golden Gurus program either before or at the same time as applying for a Golden Gurus Grant.
The Golden Gurus Grants Application Guidelines are available on the Golden Gurus website at www.deewr.gov.au/goldengurus.

Golden Gurus grants are part of the Australian Government’s Productive Ageing Package, which provides $43 million over four years to support the employment of mature age people and to encourage the transfer of their skills to other generations.
The program was officially launched by the Parliamentary Secretary for the Voluntary Sector, Senator Stephens, in December 2009 and commenced on January 1 this year.
