Vodafone Project - Work for the Charity of Your Choice

The Vodafone Foundation is giving five Australian’s the opportunity to work for the charity of their choice for one year and to do this the Foundation will pay an annual salary of up to $50,000 and expenses of up to $25,000.
This is the 7th year this project, called World of Difference, has run in Australia. The idea came from the Vodafone Foundation in New Zealand and now operates in 13 of the 24 Foundations around the world.
Demelza Farr, who is running the Australian program says the key is to find passionate people with exciting ideas.
Farr says the program has had some wonderful flow-on effects. One of last years winners, Ronni Kahn from NSW who has been able to work for the food rescue organisation, OzHarvest was named Australia’s Local Hero 2010 as part of the Australia Day Awards.
The award citation says that with Ronni’s guidance, OzHarvest has had a profound impact on the environment, saving thousands of tonnes of food from landfill and helping clients of charities to eat quality, nutritious food.
Demelza Farr says its people like Ronni that the Vodafone Foundation is looking for but there is no limitation on the type of charity work. Rather she says it is about the skills the person can bring as well as being realistic about their achievements. Applicants also need to have had some previous connection with their chosen charity.
Applicants need to complete an online application form describing how you will make a world of difference for your chosen charity.
How does the application process work?
- Submit your application of between 500 to max 2000 words before the 7 Feb 2010
- The short listed applicants will be selected and contacted before the 26 Feb 2010
- The top 10 applicants will be interviewed between 1 to 13 March 2010
- The winning 5 World of Difference applicants for 2010 will be announced on the 15 March 2010
- The winning applicants will be required to start their new ‘World of Difference’ job from or before the 26 April 2010
