Extension Granted for Final Productivity Commission Report

The Commission has been given until January 31st to produce the final report.
The Rudd Government asked the Productivity Commission it to undertake a commissioned study on the contributions of the Australian Not for Profit sector with a focus is on improving the measurement of the sector’s contributions and removing obstacles to maximising its contributions to society.
The Commission produced a draft report in October and so far 128 organisations and individuals have provided responses to its recommendations. Some 179 submissions were made during the original inquiry.
Assistant Treasurer Nick Sherry responded to a request from the Productivity Commission for an extension from 31 December 2009 until 31 January 2010 saying that he noted that the scope of the study and the issues raised were more numerous than first envisaged and other reports that the inquiry was to draw on, such as the Henry Report, were also delayed.
