Public Debate in Cyberspace
3 July 2000 at 1:07 pm
There’s a new way of discussing community issues without taping into traditional TV, Radio and newspapers. It’s an Online facility called Public Debate where the topics of the day are discussed and rated in order of the most popular issues in the previous 24 hours.
The site, www.publicdebate.com.au has been consistently rated in the top 100 Internet sites in Australia under the section ‘community’.
Public Debate says it was created to allow the public to determine the issues they are really interested in, instead of being media driven and to allow people to air their opinions. The most popular issues are ranked first and readers determine which are most important by their visits to the various pages.
Many of the issues could well be served by the views of the Not for Profit sector!
