Corporate Citizenship Free Lectures

The Director of the Corporate Citizenship Research Unit at Deakin University, Professor David Birch is presenting a series of free lectures in Sydney and Melbourne on corporate citizenship in Australia.
The free public lectures will outline the results of a major new study which survey the top business in Australia on their understanding, practice and policy developments of corporate citizenship.
The study was featured in Pro Bono Australia’s e-Newsletter last month. (April 17, Vol 3 Edition 7)
In part it revealed that corporate citizenship as a concept is understood to be mostly about community activities and is considered by corporate Australia to be important but there is a strong sense that Australia is lagging behind other countries.
The study targeted 200 Australian companies of which 98 companies completed the survey.
The survey shows that corporate citizenship is not perceived as being embedded in the mainstream core business policies and practices of a company.
Free lectures detailing the results will be held in both Sydney on 16 May and Melbourne on 21 May.
Prof. Birch says the lectures will provide an opportunity to discuss the implications of the research for business, civil society and government.
The lecture details are as follows:
16 May- Sydney: 4-5.30 AGL Theatre, Museum of Sydney Cnr Phillip & Bridge Sts.
21 May- Melbourne 4-5.30 Swanston Hall, Melbourne Town Hall Swanston St.
