Young Australians are set to benefit to the tune of $650,000 with the announcement of Springboard Grants from The Foundation for Young Australians.

The Foundation is calling for expressions of interest for the funding of initiatives that create opportunities for young people aged between 12 and 25.

Mary Wooldridge, Chief Executive Officer of The Foundation for Young Australians, says these Springboard Grants are for projects that enhance the self esteem of young people, break entrenched cycles or improve the “connectedness” of young people to their family, peers, schools and communities.

Wooldridge says one of The Foundation’s core principles is to involve young people in the design, implementation, management and evaluation of initiatives that address their needs so it is really looking for applications that comprehensively involve young people in all stages of the initiative.

Grants of up to $100,000 over three years are available.

The Foundation for Young Australians is a Not for Profit organisation committed to developing innovative initiatives that support and empower the lives of young Australians aged 12 to 25. It commits over $3 million each year to youth focussed projects that help provide young people with opportunities to reach their full potential and make a contribution to the community.

Approximately 20% of its total grant funding is dedicated to initiatives specifically designed to benefit young indigenous Australians.

For an electronic copy of the grant application form and terms of reference in Word format send an e-mail to us atprobono@probonoaustralia.com.au.

Applications close 24 June 2002.
