The Second Summit on Non Profit Leadership aims to attract board and executive members actively involved in the leadership of Third Sector organisations from the Asia Pacific region when it kicks off in Melbourne in July.
The Summit will showcase a line-up of invited speakers including Dr Harold Robles, Founder of the Albert Schweitzer Institute for Humanities. Dr Robles is an outstanding international philanthropist who counts among his friends Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter and Mikhail Gorbachov. The keynote speaker is Professor James Phills the co-director for the Centre for Social Innovation at the Stanford Business School in the US.
His research focuses on strategic change, organisational learning, and social innovation. He is the author of a number of publications on learning and change in the private, public, and Not for Profit sectors, including Integrating Mission and Strategy for Nonprofit Organisation, a new book to be published by Oxford University Press in 2004.
Other speakers include the Entrepreneur of the Year and founder of Opportunity International, David Bussau, the Rev. Tim Costello, newly appointed chief executive of World Vision Australia, Elaine Henry from The Smith Family and Martine Letts, Secretary General of the Australian Red Cross. As well there are a host of corporate speakers including Tony Surtees, Executive Chairman of INSiTE and former Executive Vice President of Yahoo!, Terry Campbell, Chairman and Chief Executive of Goldman Sachs J B Were Australia, and Linda Nicholls, Chairman of Australia Post.
The program will focus on three core themes:
1. Strategic Challenges of Leadership
2. Risks, Relationships and Partnerships
3. Sustainability
Building on the success of the First Summit, held in 2001, the Second International Summit on Non Profit Leadership offers three days of information, stimulation, ideas and experience focussed on the challenges of leadership in Not for Profit organisations – form both a senior management and board perspective.
Features of the Summit include:
