Aussie Internet Stats

There are almost 14 million Internet users in Australia according to the latest statistics – that’s 68.2% of the population.
The latest figures from Nielsen/NetRatings for September 2005 show a massive increase in just five years.
In 2000 there were 6.6 million Internet users in Australia, or 33% of the population of 19,521,900 people.
In 2005 the figure has reached 13,991,612 Internet users or 68.2% of the population which stands at 20.5 million people.
According to the most recent ABS figures there are almost 2 million Internet Access lines in Australia with 75% being broadband and 25% dial-up lines.
The biggest number of Internet users are in NSW followed closely by Victoria. Both states share just over one million access lines.
