New Study - Fundraising Program Benchmarks - Advertorial

How healthy is your fundraising program? New benchmarks released today

In the first project of its kind in Australia, ten Not for Profits have combined their raw donation transaction data to benchmark against each other and evaluate their fundraising programs.

In all, more than 15.3 million transactions by 1.6 million donors worth $772 million in fundraising income formed the basis of the project. The data used also covers a significant period of time – the last 11 years.

A wide variety of benchmarks have been distilled from the analysed data, some of which include: direct mail and regular giving levels; bequest income and the average size of bequests left to nonprofits; and donor acquisition and retention rates.

A summary of the benchmarks and the project will be published today in Fundraising and Philanthropy Australasia .

The editor of Fundraising and Philanthropy Australasia, Jeremy Bradshaw, says
there are three important ways in which the project is helping nonprofits.

Firstly, he says, it provides Not for Profits with a better understanding of how they are performing in different aspects of their fundraising; secondly, the study identifies which parts of their program need improving; and finally, it will provide direction and goals to work towards.

The organisations taking part in the project represent a diverse cross-section of the Not for Profit sector. They are: Amnesty International Australia, Anglicare, Australia for UNHCR (the UN refugee agency), Australian Conservation Foundation, Cancer Council NSW, ChildFund Australia, Children’s Cancer Institute Australia, Christian Blind Mission International (Australia), Heart Foundation and The Lost Dogs’ Home.

The study is being coordinated by Pareto Fundraising, which is also analysing all the data.
