2007 National Survey On Volunteering Issues
15 January 2007 at 9:59 am

Volunteering Australia’s 2007 National Survey on Volunteering Issues is now online.

This survey addresses policy and legal issues affecting volunteering as well as volunteers and organisations’ experiences of volunteer management practices.

The National Survey of Volunteering Issues helps Volunteering Australia understand what issues are emerging in the sector and what factors help and hinder effective volunteering.

The information is used to formulate policy positions to put to government and also to target future research and consultation efforts.

Policy officer Louise Mitchell says some questions and themes from last year’s survey have been included so that VA can make comparisons over time and track volunteering trends, but the online survey has also been refined to make it easier for people to respond.

Two key findings from last year’s survey were that recruitment is still a central issue for most organisations and that most volunteers would value recognition in the form of training and skills development.

Volunteering Australia says it has responded to these findings by maintaining a strong emphasis on training and by developing more information resources on recruitment and on best practice in volunteer management.

The survey will stay open until the end of February 2007. The survey results will be published during National Volunteer Week in May 2007.

The online survey can be found here.
