The trustees of the Future2 Foundation have named Terry Power as Chair of the Board.
Terry Power is well known in the financial services industry for his years with Bankers Trust Australia, latterly as a director of BT Funds Management. He is currently non executive Chairman of the WHK Group, a listed public company in accounting and financial planning.
Corinna Dieters, a Future2 trustee and outgoing Chair of the Financial Planning Association says Future2 trustees believe that Terry Power has skills, experience and contacts that will prove to be invaluable as we build the framework and funding for our new foundation.
Dieters says the foundation of the financial planning profession, Future2’s growth and development will rest in large part on the commitment of those working in financial planning, as well as the wider financial services community.
Terry Power’s early professional career was in consumer goods and construction, prior to joining a Melbourne legal practice in 1980. He held senior executive positions with Bankers Trust Australia for 18 years up until his retirement in 2001. Since that time he has been non executive chairman of the Zig Inge Group, one of Australia’s largest retirement village groups, and a director of St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research.
He is a Foundation Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a retired Fellow CPA, and a former Associate Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute.
Future2 was formally launched this month at the FPA National Conference in Sydney, at the same time announcing a partnering agreement with Whitelion, a community based youth foundation, and two grants to grassroots charities supported by FPA Chapters.
Future2 was established in early 2007 on the initiative of a small group of FPA members and the support of the FPA Board. It is a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient status.
Other trustees of Future2 are Peter Bobbin, Ray Griffin CFP®, David Haintz CFP®and Michael Neary.
