Corporate Connect Volunteering Program Opportunities

United Way Sydney has a Corporate Connect Volunteering Program which creates opportunities for community organisations in the Sydney Metropolitan area to benefit from corporate volunteer groups.
Projects are fully managed by United Way Sydney and include projects such as backyard blitzes, community BBQs, social support, vacation care and more.
Corporate Volunteer Manager, Wendy Chin is currently seeking new projects within the community sector.
Chin says the Corporate Connect Volunteering Program has been in existence for a few years in Sydney but has really taken off in the last 2 years.
She says the United Way model is a method by which groups of employees volunteer one working day towards an identified and need-based project in a community organisation.
She says once completed the aim of projects is to leave a meaningful and worthwhile legacy for the organisation and its clients.
Chin says the individual projects are fully managed by United Way Sydney staff ensuring little impact on corporate and community resources but with maximum benefit to each organisation.
In 2007, United Way Sydney completed 64 projects, contributing over 5200 volunteer hours with almost 1000 corporate volunteers.
United Way Sydney CEO, Doug Taylor says their Corporate Connect program has provided considerable benefit to their community partners because they are able to benefit from extra in-kind and capacity building resourcing and in a way that ensures they carry no extra costs and headaches.
He says it also provides a great way to help their corporate partners commence a process of engaging with their local community and getting a greater awareness of the challenges and opportunities.
