AbaF Generates $20 Million in Private Sector Support for the Arts
7 April 2008 at 12:18 pm

The Australian Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) has reached another milestone in funding of the Arts across the country.

The total value of private sector support for the arts generated and facilitated by AbaF since its inception has passed $20 million.

The figure is made up of $12.7 million in new business-arts partnerships facilitated by AbaF, $4.1 million worth of expertise through volunteering placements and $3.2 million in donations to the arts paid out as grants by AbaF.

AbaF chairman Terry Campbell says it’s very pleasing to have reached this milestone and while this is not the only measure by which AbaF gauges its success, it is an important one.

Campbell says in the last financial year 2006-7 alone, AbaF generated $4.3 million in support for the arts.

He says since its inception AbaF has also provided training and professional development to more than 6000 people in the arts sector in areas including sponsorship, securing donations and business skills.

He says the ongoing value of this training to the sector is substantial.

AbaF was set up in 2000 to promote private sector support for the arts.
