With the country set to head to the polls this week, audio producer Lisa Needham spends a day with mother, campaigner and wheelchair user Nicole as she travels around Melbourne, to talk about the NDIS and her hopes for a new government.
Nicole is a mother, campaigner and wheelchair user. After suffering a decade of abuse at the hands of her former husband, Nicole now uses her lived-experience of family violence to speak out for those who don’t yet have a voice.
As election day approaches she spoke to Pro Bono News about her experience of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and what a change in government would mean for her and other people in the disability community.
About the author: Lisa Needham is a freelance audio producer who is curious about people and their stories. Many of the programmes she has produced have been broadcast on the BBC network but she has also worked on a number of projects for the not-for-profit sector.
