Myer Reveals New Plans for Strategic Philanthropy
14 June 2018 at 3:30 pm

The Myer Foundation and Sidney Myer Fund have unveiled a new five year strategy that puts Australia’s not-for-profit sector leaders, as well as advocacy and policy change, at its heart.

The plan, which will underpin the two entities’ activities for five years from 1 July, centres on the strategic themes of people, organisations, beyond grantmaking, and family engagement.

Under the heading of “people” the new plan revealed a new program investing in not-for-profit sector leaders will be established in partnership with the Ian Potter Foundation.

This will sit alongside the existing Myer Innovation Fellowships, the Sidney Myer Creative Fellowships and the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Awards.

As part of the refreshed strategic plan, organisational funding within the Poverty and Disadvantage, Sustainability and Environment and Arts and Humanities Programs will also be directed to multiyear, unrestricted general operating support.

The Myer Foundation and Sidney Myer Fund CEO Leonard Vary told Pro Bono News they were “determined” to continue delivering impactful philanthropy.

“To that end we have refreshed our five year strategic plan and look forward to introducing initiatives in the coming years which will support our not-for-profit leaders, provide multi-year operational support to grant recipients and look for ways which to help our sector beyond grantmaking,” Vary said.

The leadership development program and multi-year support are expected to be announced later this year.

An overview of the FY19-FY23 strategic plan can be seen here.
