Lead Your Collaborations To Success
20 June 2017 at 8:29 am
Join Social Leadership Australia for a two day Art & Skill of Collaboration Masterclass.
Collaboration seems to be the magic word. We often hear “collaboration” talked about as the solution to complex problems – How do you prevent homelessness? Improve the lives of people with disability? Get better outcomes for kids at risk? Often the answer is collaborate, collaborate and more collaborate. Unfortunately, as anyone who has “been there and done that” knows, collaboration is difficult work.
Collaboration is about joint action, working with others to achieve a shared goal. Effective collaborations bring together stakeholders with lots of different perspectives, values, priorities and definitions of success. When a collaboration is working well, it can harness all that diversity to be more innovative, more impactful and more integrated. Getting a collaboration to fulfil that potential can be challenging. People stop turning up to meetings, there’s unspoken conflict about who does what, and different agendas at play.
At Social Leadership Australia we see collaboration as both the biggest challenge and the greatest opportunity in every system we work in; in business, in government, in the not-for-profit sector and in the community. In our experience, working with hundreds of people on the challenges of leading for change and innovation, we have found that the skills to collaborate across difference is critical to leadership success. We believe that “leadership is a role, not a position”, which means that everyone involved in a collaboration can exercise leadership to enable the collaboration to be more effective.
Our Art & Skill of Collaboration Masterclass is a two day program for anyone who is working on or planning to commence a collaborative challenge. Participants will be provided with cutting-edge leadership theory and new skills to lead collaborations to success. It covers the theory, practice and the core skills of collaboration including what collaboration is, when it’s useful to collaborate, what stops collaborations from succeeding and strategies for developing strong collaborations that achieve results. The masterclass will provide you with new insights, new skills and an action plan to progress your own collaborative initiative and your toughest challenges.

About Social Leadership Australia: Social Leadership Australia is a social enterprise established with the purpose to create better leadership for a better Australia. At our core is a belief that social change requires developing groups of individuals to work with purpose, to take responsibility beyond their formal authority, and to provide them with the skills, capacity and resilience to operate and thrive in challenging and uncertain environments. We believe that to achieve this we need a learning process that both challenges and empowers individuals to work with greater purpose, passion, flexibility and risk. Since 1999 we have designed and delivered programs that change the way people think and work together to make real progress on our most complex challenges across all sectors and issues of Australian society. As a catalyst for positive change in society we provide life transforming opportunities for personal and professional growth that inspire and connect exceptional individuals and organisations who share our passion for creating a better world.
