Celebrating Excellence in Aged Care

Not-for-profit aged care providers and individuals working in aged and community care have been celebrated in Western Australia.
Australia’s peak not-for-profit aged care industry body announced the winners of the 2017 ACSA Excellence in Care Awards WA at a gala event on Friday.
A Uniting Church Community, Ray Glickman principal of From Left Field and Vaughan Harding OAM, CEO of Juniper, were named the joint winners of the Aged and Community Excellence Award.
A trio of Perth-based care providers – Care Options, Volunteer Task Force and Community First – which are set to merge to create a single WA-based organisation, were also recognised in the awards, with all three becoming finalists in their own right.
Dan Minchin, CEO of the amalgamating community care providers, said the awards were an important opportunity to recognise excellence in the not-for-profit aged and community care sector.
“Care Options, Volunteer Task Force and Community First International are all not-for-profit organisations that strive for excellence in every area in which they operate, and we’re very pleased that they have all been acknowledged as finalists in these awards,” Minchin said.
“It is a genuine honour to have been recognised by Australia’s peak not-for-profit aged care industry body in this way, and we’re focused on continuing to aim for excellence in every aspect of our work as we move forward with our merger.”
ACSA WA divisional CEO Trevor Lovelle said the annual awards were an important opportunity to celebrate excellence across the non-profit aged and community care industry.
“Aged and community care providers are at the heart of many communities and these awards recognise and celebrate the great work and achievements of staff, volunteers, trainees and organisations from the not-for-profit sector in Western Australia,” Lovelle said.
“ACSA has been genuinely delighted to receive some very strong nominations, demonstrating widespread commitment to helping people age well in WA.
“On behalf of the ACSA WA Division, I extend warm congratulations to the winners of the 2017 ACSA Excellence in Care Awards WA for their exceptional contributions to our industry and the community.”
