Donation Point Tap Wins Award for Social Design

Donation Point Tap – an Australian contactless payment system that allows individuals to donate directly to a charity with the simple tap of a card – has won an international award.
Donation Point Tap from Quest Payments has won in the social design category of the A’Design Award and Competition by solving a problem with traditional fundraising efforts.
The A’Design Award and Competition is for designers, innovators and companies that want to highlight themselves and their work. The competition includes over 18,000 submissions from across the world, and only 1,275 awards are given.
Tap-and-Go contactless payment technology is on the rise and being used by businesses across the country and around the world to make it easier for customers to purchase goods like a cup of coffee or groceries, but until recently, in Australia at least, the technology has seen limited use in the social sector.
Research conducted by Quest Payments on higher profile charities to understand their struggles and pain points with traditional fundraising efforts found that in some cases charities have seen a 30 per cent decline year on year with traditional coin collection methods.
For many charities, traditional coin collection is a revenue stream critical to their bottom line and success in bringing change to people’s lives.
With the rise of a cashless society, a solution was needed to solve this decline in revenue from traditional coin collection.
Donation Point Tap solves these problems, it is a contactless payment system that allows individuals to donate directly to a charity with the simple tap of a card.
Development of the system focused on creating an attention grabbing, elegant and compact design that reversed the decline and raised the profile and fundraising efforts of charities and not-for-profit organisations.
The system was entered into the A’Design Award and Competition 2016-2017 and was awarded silver in the social design category on 15 April.
Praised for being a “fuss free alternative to… coin donations”, the system is lightweight and portable, suitable for use at special events or pop-up stalls where “spur of the moment” donations can be collected.
An interchangeable printed banner is integral to the system and is crucial in attracting attention, informing donors about the charity, and how and where the funds will be directed.
Unique to Donation Point Tap is the integration of the full colour display that clearly communicates the pre-set donation amount and instills confidence to the donor that the transaction value is exactly that.
Compact and cost-effective, Donation Point Tap is portable and small in footprint and its pre-set donation amount can be changed at any time through the online Quest Cloud EFTPOS website.
