The CEO of disability service provider Achieve Australia, Anne Bryce, has been recognised as NSW Businesswoman of the Year in the for-purpose and social enterprise category in the 2016 Telstra Business Women’s Awards.

Bryce has spent over 30 years working within the disability, human services and health sectors and has led Achieve Australia through significant growth and multiple mergers supporting adults with disability across NSW.

“[This] award is recognition for the contribution of my team of staff and volunteers. Together we pride ourselves on building extraordinary lives for people with disability,” Bryce said.

“For Achieve Australia building extraordinary lives means enabling people with disability to take control and thrive at many of the everyday activities most of us take for granted. Our day job can involve assisting people to cook their first meal, buy their first outfit, catch their first train, attend their training class and land their first job.”

“This award is recognition for the work of Achieve Australia as leaders and true innovators in enabling people with disability to live independently in the community. We are Australia’s leading NGO in assisting people with disability to transition from an institutional setting into active and independent community living.”

Jackie McArthur, from logistics service provider Martin Brower, was named the 2016 Telstra New South Wales Business Woman of the Year, in Sydney on Tuesday.

McArthur is the managing director Australia and New Zealand for Martin Brower, where she supervises the end-to-end logistics and supply chain for more than 1,100 McDonald’s restaurants.

She also won the 2016 Telstra New South Wales Business Women’s Corporate and Private Award.

Joe Pollard, Telstra Business Women’s Awards ambassador and chief marketing officer, said that the New South Wales winners were exceptional business women.

“The winners of the 2016 Telstra New South Wales Business Women’s Awards are brilliant, passionate and courageous women who are thriving in their chosen fields. Not only do they have the courage to challenge the status quo but they also demonstrate exceptional business acumen and strong leadership skills,” Pollard said.

Now in their 22nd year, the Telstra Business Women’s Awards are Australia’s longest running women’s awards program in Australia.

The Victorian awards will be announced on October 18.
