Justice Connect’s acclaimed Innovation and Engagement team undertake some of the most cutting-edge work at the intersection of justice, communications, and technology. The multidisciplinary team work on projects that aim to scale Justice Connect’s reach and impact and improve the experience of people seeking legal help and the lawyers that help them.
Our deep understanding of legal help consumers combined with our leading expertise in the law, research, design, communications, digital outreach, and product development, ensure our projects are designed to meet the communities’ needs and deliver meaningful outcomes.
About the role
In line with Justice Connect’s 2024 strategy to use digital strategies to scale our reach and impact, the Project Lead – Engagement will help to plan, design, deliver, and maintain online resources and tools which support people to build their digital capability and legal resilience in the face of disasters.
You’ll bring to the team experience in the following areas:
- Project management, including demonstrated skills in organisation, planning, time management, and project governance.
- Achieving project deliverables by driving collaboration between multiple stakeholders.
- Human-centered design principles and an understanding of how to apply this knowledge to projects.
- Measuring and reporting on project progress and outcomes (familiarity with theories of change desired but not essential).
Expertise that you may have that would support our team:
- Formal or informal training in project management and human-centered design is highly desired.
Candidates will need to demonstrate commitment to Justice Connect’s vision, strategy and values.
What you will achieve in the role
- Your work will help Justice Connect reach people in the community that need our services, allowing them to prevent or resolve their legal problems and access justice.
- You will take ownership of a key cross-organisational project, develop comprehensive project documentation, execute activities with multiple team members, report back on project status, and ensure goals are met within timeframes and budgets.
- You will use human-centred design principles to oversee the continuous improvement of existing resources, as well as participate in the design, delivery, and maintenance of new resources and tools as well.
- You will monitor project progress, measure outcomes, collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data, and produce progress reports aligned to the project’s impact measurement framework.
A week in this role
If you were here last week, you would have:
- Led a user-testing interview with a person with lived experience of disasters, to test designs and content for new online self-help resources and collect feedback on improvements.
- Ran a sprint meeting with the project team to prioritise tasks for the upcoming fortnight, and proactively find solutions to any roadblocks.
- Joined a prototyping session with our Innovation team to discuss audience wants and needs, and brainstorm creative and innovative solutions.
- Reviewed user feedback from Google Analytics, HotJar, and Customer Voice surveys and translated insights into opportunities for the project team to action.
- Reviewed content for a new resource to ensure it uses plain language and embraces Justice Connect’s design principles for effective online resources.
- Met with our Measurement, Evaluation, and Learning Lead to reflect on the project’s latest outcomes and impact data, and collate trends and reflections into a progress report
- Joined our fortnightly Digital Consumer Outreach Program meeting about engagement with our online resources, provided updates about upcoming online resources, and discussed messaging for social media ads.

Important role information
The position reports to the Head of Engagement.
Employment is full time (37.5 hours per week) fixed term until 30 June 2025. Part-time (30 hours per week) will be considered on application.
The salary for this role is $87,112.93 per annum (pro rata) (plus 11% superannuation) with annual leave loading and generous salary packaging options.
This role can be based at either our Melbourne or Sydney offices (both located in the CBD) with the opportunity for hybrid working arrangements in place.
