About the organisation
Survivors & Mates Support Network (SAMSN) is a not-for-profit organisation that provides services and support for male survivors of child sexual abuse. We deliver groups and workshops for men and their families, and training for health professionals and service providers, while working to increase public awareness of the effects that childhood sexual abuse can have on men and their families.
About the role
We are looking for a suitably qualified/experienced person to join the SAMSN team as a Senior Practitioner who will:
- Guide the development and promotion of a trauma and violence informed, gender and culturally safe approach throughout SAMSN.
- Provide clinical practice supervision and training of SAMSN direct service delivery staff, engaged in individual and group programs.
- Lead the articulation and integration of SAMSN clinical governance and peer support practice framework in conjunction with the Clinical Advisory Committee
- Engage in direct service delivery to maintain dynamic connection with SAMSN client base.
- Contribute to the development of resources, community engagement activities and training that enhance awareness and support with male survivors of child sexual abuse, their partners, families, friends and carers.
- Ensure service compliance with established practice standards, and that electronic records and client files are maintained in keeping with organisational policies and procedures.
- Comply with SAMSN Code of Conduct and undertake appropriate additional duties as requested by SAMSN’s Chief Operating Officer.

Essential:
- Tertiary degree level qualifications in Social Work, Psychology and/or Counselling.
- Current registration as an accredited clinical supervisor with the AASW (Mental Health Social Worker), AHPRA (Psychologist), ACA (Level 3 or 4, Clinical Supervisor) or PACFA (Counsellor – Accredited Supervisor).
- 3 years plus clinical supervision and counselling experience utilising a trauma and violence informed, gender and culturally safe approach.
- Extensive experience working directly with survivors of interpersonal trauma.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the characteristics, dynamics and long-term impacts of childhood sexual abuse on male survivors, their families and supporters and practice frameworks to address these.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing programs, procedures, and work practices, with high level written and oral communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Provide digital evidence of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (minimum 2 vaccinations).
Successful applicants will be required to have a current National Police Check and a Working with Children Check.
Desirable:
- Comprehensive experience in working with male survivors of childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault to enhance personal and relational well-being.
- 5 years plus direct experience as a qualified practitioner.
- Post graduate tertiary level qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling.

Role Type: Part-time (2-3 days, 15.2hrs -22.8hrs per week) SCHADS Award Level 7
Commensurate with qualifications and experience, you will also benefit from a $15,900 tax-free salary packaging component.
