We are looking for an experienced Communications Specialist (known internally as a Narrative Specialist) who is passionate about releasing children from poverty, using their writing skills to share stories, and engaging supporters with our mission.
The role can be based in any of our state offices (Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth or Hobart). A hybrid work arrangement means, during the week, roughly half the days will be done from the office and the rest from home if preferred. This role is permanent full-time or 4 days per week part-time. Salary packaging is available to increase take-home pay.
The successful applicant’s core responsibilities will be writing digital and traditional marketing copy, writing project proposals and progress reports about Compassion’s work that can be shared with supporters, and proofreading and editing the work of other staff. Some examples of marketing copy the successful applicant will write regularly are EDMs, web landing pages, blog articles, flyers, and digital and print ads.
The successful applicant will possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, writing or similar discipline
- 3+ years’ experience in a communications role writing both digital and print copy
- Proven ability to craft and tell compelling stories
- Exceptional attention to detail and editing and proofreading skills
- Strong understanding of digital marketing principles (including SEO and accessibility), content creation and brand
- Ability to work productively to deadlines in a talented and motivated creative team
- Creative thinking, ideation and problem-solving skills
- Experience in the international development sector (preferred)
The successful candidate will be strongly aligned to the values of this leading Christian not-for-profit organisation and be looking for a role where you can use your exceptional talent to help release children from poverty. This role will offer flexible working arrangements and great salary packaging opportunities to maximise your take-home pay.
