The Trauma Informed Practice Manager reports directly to the Client Services Director and working closely with the Intake Manager, Managing Lawyers and other national discipline leaders. In addition to some direct client work, this position will be responsible for the national management and coordination of Support Services team of social workers and counsellors.  The role will ensure that the Support Services team’s work fully integrates as part of multidisciplinary trauma-informed, culturally safe model.  It is also expected that the role will provide co-ordination and oversight of external supervision arrangements for their client-facing staff.

To be Eligible to apply you will need the following.

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Social Work or Psychology or Counselling with relevant peak body registration.
  • Training and direct experience working within a trauma informed practice approach
  • A strong commitment to, and understanding of, cultural safety within a multidisciplinary context
  • Experience working with legal procedures in respect to the needs of survivors of child sexual assault and an understanding of the range of counselling and  support services available to survivors, including those from diverse backgrounds of age, gender and culture
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in the professional supervision of social work and/or counselling staff as part of a multi- disciplinary service. 
  • Recognised and well demonstrated management skills, including planning and monitoring for effective service delivery; recruiting, training and supporting staff; and developing, implementing and co-ordinating systems, policies, procedures and resources
  • Strong technical information and data coordination skills
  • High-level communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to develop constructive working relationships, to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders and to represent the organisation in a variety of forums
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and a client-focused approach
  • Experience working in a variety of off-site locations and willingness to travel and work interstate when required
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work in regional, rural and remote areas, for up to a week at a time.

Other requirements

  • Holding a satisfactorily National Police Records Check and a Working with Children Check.
  • The role will involve intrastate and interstate travel to deliver services to clients on an outreach basis to undertake community engagement activities, and to provide face to face management of staff.
  • A current driver’s license is desirable.
